Visceral Manipulation
Organ Specific Fascial Mobilization
A soft form of manual therapy that focuses on the internal organs and the structures that provide mobility, stability, and facilitate proper functioning for the organs. Consisting of gentle specifically placed manual forces that promote normal mobility, tone, and movement of the organs and connective tissue. By balancing the organs and increasing proprioceptive communication; the symptoms of pain, dysfunction, and poor posture are relieved. Thereby also affecting musculoskeletal, vascular, nervous, urogenital, respiratory, digestive, and lymphatic imbalances.
Visceral Restrictions
Our bodies need movement for optimal health, this also applies to every structure in our bodies including the viscera. Especially our organs! Tissues lose their normal motion when inflamed, it can be thought of as a localized dehydration of affected tissues. When this happens the viscera in question is no longer freely mobile in its cavity, and becomes fixed to another structure. Forcing the body to compensate, leading to a functional problem, and eventually to a structural problem if compensation is not enough.
Some factors that can cause tissue inflammation/visceral restrictions include:
Infections
Surgeries
Physical Trauma
Repetitious movement
Postural habits
Chemical stress (diet/nutrition, environmental toxins, smoking, drinking)
Emotional stress
Microbiome dysfunction
“Our knowledge about the human body is so small compared with the unbounded intricacy and richness it possesses. It is important to start the journey of discovery even though we cannot see where it will lead.”
